Civil Aviation: Transit Ban at Kuwait International Airport Continues Until Further Notice

The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced on Friday that rumors regarding the resumption of transit operations at Kuwait International Airport are “inaccurate,” affirming that the decision to halt transit operations remains in effect until further notice. Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the official spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the Authority “has not coordinated with Jazeera Airways or any other airlines regarding the resumption or opening of transit operations,” noting that “administrative measures have been taken against the company for initiating and announcing transit flights without obtaining prior approval from the Authority.” He clarified that the decisions and directives issued to suspend transit operations “remain in effect since the onset of the heinous attacks in the region,” emphasizing that these measures were taken in line with the Authority’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of passenger, aircraft, and airport safety amid the current regional events, developments, and security conditions. Al-Rajhi explained that “the administrative measures taken against Jazeera Airways were in accordance with applicable regulations and bylaws, due to its violation of the decisions, directives, and controls governing transit operations.” He added that any change to the decision to suspend transit operations or to allow their resumption will be officially announced by the Authority through its designated channels. He noted that all the Authority’s decisions and actions stem from its regulatory responsibilities and its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of travelers and civil aviation, in keeping with the exigencies of the current regional circumstances and security situation.
