Bloomberg: Apple may sell 6 million 'iPhone Duo' in 2026

Market research firm Counterpoint expects Apple to sell around 6 million units of its foldable iPhone Duo during the latter half of 2026. Although the figure may seem modest at first glance, it may carry greater significance than it suggests, according to Bloomberg. Apple has not yet released the phone for sale, but that has not prevented analysts from offering initial sales estimates for its first foldable iPhone. Analyst Ivan Lam said that final sales volume will depend largely on the company’s ability to ramp up production. Estimates suggest that Apple may produce around 80 million iPhones between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027, over a six-month period, including production of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max alongside the iPhone Duo. Conventional models are expected to account for the largest share of this output. However, the estimate of 6 million iPhone Duo units applies only to the latter half of 2026, a period much shorter than the six months covered by the overall iPhone production estimate. Compared with the foldable smartphone market, this figure approaches the expected production levels of some competing devices, making it substantial for Apple’s first foldable phone. Apple’s entry into this category could broaden consumer interest and may also boost sales of competing foldable phones. The launch of a foldable iPhone could encourage more consumers to try these devices, which still represent a niche market compared with traditional smartphones.
