GCC condemns Houthi attack on electricity distribution station in Medina

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Budaiwi, today, Thursday, strongly condemned the terrorist attack by a drone carried out by the Houthi militia, which targeted an electricity distribution station in the city of Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a facility that provides services to the Prophet’s Mosque and civilian residents of the city.

In a statement, Al-Budaiwi said that this culpable Houthi aggression crossed all red lines and constituted a blatant provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide, representing a serious escalation in the violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites. It revealed an adversarial approach that disregards religious and human values, as well as international laws and norms, particularly given the repeated attempts to target the Two Holy Mosques and the surrounding areas.

He affirmed the full and steadfast support of the GCC member states for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing their complete solidarity with the Kingdom in confronting any threats to its security, stability, sovereignty, and holy sites, and supporting all measures it takes to protect its territory, citizens, residents, and guests of God. He stressed that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its holy sites is an integral part of the security of the GCC member states, and that any threat to them constitutes a threat to the security of all GCC countries.
