Two Kuwaiti Teams Participate in Formula 1 for Schools Championship in Singapore

Coinciding with the Formula 1 World Championship finals in Singapore, the Barq Racing and Mouj Racing teams traveled to Singapore to compete in the STEM Racing World Finals, representing the State of Kuwait with support from the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, one of the centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. This qualification followed their success in securing their spots in the finals after competing in the local championship held in Kuwait last July.

The teams’ journey over the past months represented a comprehensive experience that combined training and practical application. Students took charge of all aspects of preparing their teams and projects, from designing and manufacturing miniature racing cars using advanced technologies to developing marketing strategies, managing resources, and presenting their projects to judging panels. These stages provided students with an experience that mimics the responsibilities and roles required by professional motorsport teams.

The Barq Racing team comprises Abdulrahman Al-Rifai, Khaled Al-Khalidi, Ali Mohammed Al-Musbah, Ahmed Al-Basman, and Abdulwahab Al-Mutairi. The Mouj Racing team includes Hussein Saffar, Abdulwahab Al-Sallal, Sheikha Al-Duaiji, Nasser Al-Qutami, Saud Al-Khalidi, and Fawaz Al-Dahi.

The team members are now preparing to compete against a select group of student teams from various countries, in an opportunity that allows them to test their projects and skills on an international stage. Kuwait’s participation in the world finals is an extension of the local competitions that enabled students to work within specialized teams and assume multiple responsibilities encompassing engineering, administrative, and media roles. By advancing to the global stage, the students continue a training path that emphasizes initiative, precision in execution, and the ability to work under real competitive conditions.

The teams’ qualification for the world finals reflects the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity’s commitment to providing practical spaces for young people to test their abilities and broaden their horizons in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The center looks forward to the teams’ distinguished participation in Singapore, wishing the students success in the competitions and a proud representation of the State of Kuwait on this global platform.
