Kuwait-Turkey Cooperation to Combat Organized Crime and Drug Trafficking

Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahayb held talks with Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Kubra Guran Yigitbasi to explore ways to enhance security cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior said in a press statement on Tuesday that the meeting took place in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, Mohammed Al-Shaboub, as part of Major General Al-Wahayb’s visit to the friendly Republic of Turkey.

The statement noted that Major General Al-Wahayb conveyed greetings and appreciation from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Sabah, emphasizing his commitment to developing areas of joint work and exchanging expertise between the security agencies of the two countries, reflecting the deep and distinguished relations between Kuwait and the friendly Republic of Turkey.

The meeting also addressed a number of security issues of mutual interest, foremost among them combating organized crime and drug trafficking and smuggling, strengthening mechanisms for information exchange and coordination among relevant authorities, particularly in confronting transnational crimes, as well as leveraging modern technologies and best security practices to enhance performance efficiency and security readiness.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister of Interior and his accompanying delegation visited the Turkish Operations Room, where they reviewed work procedures, systems, and modern technologies used to manage and monitor security operations, and heard explanations regarding coordination, response mechanisms, and handling of reports and incidents.

Major General Al-Wahayb affirmed that the visit reflects the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, underscoring his commitment to expanding the horizons of security partnerships with friendly countries and developing joint work mechanisms to address security challenges and consolidate the foundations of security and stability.

For her part, Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Kubra Guran Yigitbasi emphasized the importance of continuing joint work and exchanging expertise between the two sides to serve mutual interests and contribute to enhancing the security and stability of the two friendly countries.
