Qatar advances to Gulf Cup 27 semifinals after defeating Yemen

The Qatari national football team secured its second consecutive victory in the 27th Gulf Cup (“Khaleeji 27”), at the group stage level, by defeating their Yemeni counterparts 1-0 in the match that brought them together in the second round of group play. This result brought Al-Ahmar’s (The Arabs) tally to six points from two matches, following their opening win over Bahrain with a 2-0 scoreline. Meanwhile, the Yemeni national team was eliminated from the tournament after suffering their second defeat, having previously lost their opening match to the United Arab Emirates by a 4-0 margin.

Al-Ahmar’s winning goal against Yemen was scored by Youssef Abdulrazzaq in the 64th minute of the second half, after the first half had ended goalless.

Qatar officially secured their place in the semi-finals, regardless of the outcome of their final match against the United Arab Emirates. Al-Ahmar managed to defeat both Bahrain and Yemen, while Bahrain remain in contention for the second qualifying spot, provided they defeat the UAE later today and the UAE lose to Qatar in the final round.
