Kuwait's Blue Team bids farewell to Gulf Cup 27 after loss to Iraq

Our national senior football team bid farewell to the 27th Gulf Cup ("Khaleeji 27"), currently being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after suffering a 3-2 defeat to the Iraqi national team in a match that opened the second round of Group A in the tournament.

Iraq took the lead through Zaidan Iqbal in the 52nd minute, before Yousif Nasser equalized from a penalty in the 75th minute, which was won by substitute Yousif Majed. Saif Rashid then restored Iraq's lead with a second goal in the 83rd minute. Yousif Nasser once again leveled the score for the "Blue" team in the 90th minute, before Iraq secured the winning goal in the final seconds of stoppage time (the 99th minute) through Karrar Haidar.

The "Blue" team lost all hope of advancing after suffering consecutive defeats against Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Meanwhile, the Iraqi national team reached four points, temporarily topping the group standings following their win over Kuwait and draw with Oman, ahead of the second-round match between the Saudi and Omani national teams. The Saudi national team currently has three points, while Oman has one point.

The national team will face the Omani national team in their third match next Tuesday, concluding the round of matches, while the Saudi and Iraqi national teams will meet in the third round.
