Minister of Social Affairs: Dissolution and liquidation of 12 civil and charitable organizations

Faisal Mutair reported that Dr. Amal Al-Huwaileh, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, announced the issuance of decisions to dissolve and liquidate 12 civil and charitable entities, comprising six public benefit associations and six charitable foundations, due to violations of laws and regulations and failure to adhere to the purposes for which they were established.

Al-Huwaileh explained that this action is part of the ministry’s ongoing oversight and monitoring of civil and charitable institutions. She added that the decisions were issued after reviewing the status of the concerned entities, auditing their compliance with the laws and regulations governing their operations, and examining whether they fulfilled the purposes for which they were registered. It was found that some entities had not conducted any actual activities, had failed to hold general assemblies or conduct elections for several years, and that some had experienced a decline in membership numbers, while others lacked official headquarters.

She emphasized that monitoring and auditing efforts continue to ensure that civil and charitable institutions comply with the rules and regulations governing their operations, stressing that necessary legal measures will be taken against any entity found to be non-compliant.

Al-Huwaileh noted that regulating civil and charitable work and strengthening principles of governance, transparency, and legal compliance aim to protect this sector, preserve its social role, and ensure that its institutions fulfill the objectives for which they were established, thereby enhancing public trust and safeguarding the public interest.
