Chiefs of Staff of the Makkah Agreement countries: Immediate start of effective military cooperation

In Riyadh on Friday, a meeting was held between the Chief of the Defense Forces and the Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces of the states party to the “Mecca Agreement for Collective Defense,” with the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Republic of Turkey.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense stated in a statement that the Chiefs of Staff reviewed the security situation and the threats facing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and expressed their strong condemnation of the attacks targeting the Holy City of Mecca and the Kingdom’s civil and economic infrastructure.

The participants praised the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi Armed Forces and their efforts to ensure the safety of citizens and residents and the security of the Kingdom.

They discussed ways to advance cooperation among the armed forces of the three countries, develop intelligence cooperation and military coordination, and integrate capabilities, thereby strengthening deterrence and collective defense.

The participants commended the solid relationships and mutual trust linking the peoples and armed forces of the three countries, affirming that their meeting in Riyadh reflects the strength of their defense partnership and their shared determination to immediately begin translating the commitments outlined in the “Mecca Agreement for Collective Defense” into effective military cooperation.

The participants reaffirmed their strong commitment to collective defense, embodying the three countries’ resolve to defend the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
