Qatar defeats Bahrain 2-0 in the 2027 Gulf Cup

The Qatari national team secured a 2-0 victory over their Bahraini counterparts in a match held at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, marking the conclusion of the first round of Group A in the 27th Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 27), which is being hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia until October 6. Qatar’s first goal was scored by Khoukhi Boualem in the 61st minute, before Hassan Al-Haidous added the second for the Maroon Falcons from a penalty kick in the 98th minute of added time. This result handed the defending champions, Bahrain, their first defeat of the tournament.

At the end of the first round in Group B, the UAE national team tops the standings with three points, edging out Qatar’s Maroon Falcons on goal difference, while the Yemeni and Bahraini teams remain without points.

Qatar completed the match with 10 men after Ahmed Fathi was sent off in the 69th minute. Meanwhile, Bahraini defender Abbas Al-Asfour received a red card in the final seconds of added time after committing the foul that led to the penalty for Qatar’s second goal.
