Kuwait at the United Nations: Political and Economic Momentum
Kuwait recorded a prominent presence and significant political momentum on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The agenda of developing Kuwait’s relations with sister and friendly countries, alongside enhancing economic and investment cooperation, received considerable attention in the overall meetings held by the Representative of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, who continued holding such meetings for the fourth consecutive day with international leaders and officials.
In this context, the Amir’s Representative met with the Presidents of Poland, Karol Nawrocki; Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud; and Syria, Ahmed Al-Sharaa; the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Yunus Al-Menfi; the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb; Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg; the Deputy Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Abdullah Al-Aleimi; the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Dr. Nawaf Salam; and the Prime Minister of Rwanda, Justin Nsengiyumva.
During these meetings, the Representative of His Highness the Amir conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir, along with his best wishes for their good health, and for the continued security, stability, prosperity, and progress of their countries and peoples. The meetings also featured discussions on bilateral relations, as well as the latest developments on the regional and international scenes.
On the economic front, the Representative of His Highness the Amir received officials from the global investment firm Blackstone. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for joint investment cooperation, global economic developments and investment opportunities, and ways to create opportunities for investing in national human capital.
Within the framework of this political momentum, Kuwait participated in approximately 21 meetings and gatherings aimed at enhancing international cooperation and supporting security and stability. It was emphasized that international relations should be developed to serve the country’s interests, with continuous coordination on regional and international developments and issues.
In this regard, Kuwait and the United States, during a joint meeting, stressed the need to strengthen relations and strategic cooperation. The “International Ministerial Meeting,” in which Kuwait participated, concluded with the necessity of ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, maintaining freedom of maritime navigation, and ensuring the continuity of international trade, energy supplies, and global supply chains.

These meetings took place at the Kuwaiti Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In this context, the Amir’s Representative met with the President of the friendly Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and his accompanying delegation; the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and his accompanying delegation; the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, and his accompanying delegation; the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Yunus Al-Menfi, and his accompanying delegation; the President of the friendly Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, and his accompanying delegation; Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, and his accompanying delegation; the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the sister Republic of Yemen, Dr. Abdullah Al-Aleimi Bawazir, and his accompanying delegation; the Prime Minister of the sister Republic of Lebanon, Dr. Nawaf Salam, and his accompanying delegation; and the Prime Minister of the friendly Republic of Rwanda, Justin Nsengiyumva, and his accompanying delegation.
Development of Relations
The Representative of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, conveyed to them during the meetings the greetings of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, along with his best wishes for their good health, and for the continued security, stability, prosperity, and progress of their sister and friendly countries and peoples.
The meetings featured discussions on the bilateral relations between Kuwait and their sister and friendly countries, ways to develop these relations and support cooperation to serve mutual interests and benefit our peoples, in addition to discussing the latest developments on the regional and international scenes.
The meetings were attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Jeraah Al-Jaber; the Director General of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, Sheikh Dr. Meshal Al-Jaber; Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi; Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Tariq Al-Bunai; Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Dai, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince; and Minister Plenipotentiary Abdullah Al-Obaidi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Minister’s Office.
Investment Opportunities
On the economic front, the Representative of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, received yesterday (Wednesday) Jonathan Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer of the global investment firm Blackstone, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for joint investment cooperation between Kuwait and the global Blackstone group, global economic developments and investment opportunities, as well as ways to create opportunities for investing in national human capital, contributing to developing its capabilities, refining its skills, and leveraging global expertise in investment fields.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Dr. Meshal Al-Jaber, Director General of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority; Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi; Ambassador Tariq Al-Bunai, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; and Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Dai, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince.
