Smuggling of 47 kg of "Shabu" and 45 liters of raw "Shabu" thwarted at Al-Abdali border crossing
Under the direct supervision of Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics successfully apprehended a member of a network involved in the smuggling, manufacturing, and distribution of narcotics, and thwarted the smuggling of a shipment of shabu (methamphetamine) and raw materials used in its production. This action follows up on a previous case involving a suspect who was apprehended at his residence in the Saad Al-Abdullah district for manufacturing shabu at a farm in the Kabd district and trafficking in narcotics.
The apprehension came after investigative and surveillance operations and the setting of a carefully planned ambush, in coordination with the General Directorate of Customs, as the suspect arrived from the Republic of Iraq via the Abdali border crossing. Authorities discovered approximately 47 kilograms of shabu and 45 liters of raw shabu liquid, used in the production of psychotropic substances, concealed in a secret manner within the vehicle’s frame.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had been traveling by land to the Mahshahr region in Iran to meet a drug trafficker who was responsible for concealing the shipments inside the vehicle. The suspect would then return via the Republic of Iraq to Kuwait and hand over the vehicle to the previously apprehended suspect, who would unload the cargo at one of the farms to manufacture shabu and distribute it through trafficking networks.
The suspect admitted to carrying out more than 24 smuggling operations over two years, including bringing shipments into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where individuals affiliated with the other suspect would receive the vehicle, unload its cargo, and return it to him for the journey back to Kuwait.
The General Directorate for Combating Narcotics continues to track down the remaining members of the network and its extensions, taking necessary measures against those involved and cutting off the sources of their activities to protect the security of society and the safety of its citizens.
