Aisha Ramadan: Unusual rise in temperatures

Meteorological expert Eisa Ramadan stated that Kuwait is experiencing an abnormal rise in temperatures despite September nearing its end, noting that severe heat is expected to continue over the weekend. Ramadan explained that weather stations under the Meteorological Department recorded temperatures reaching 47 degrees Celsius in several areas before 2:00 p.m. yesterday (Thursday), levels higher than the normal averages for this time of year.

In the same context, the Meteorological Department said that the country’s weather over the weekend will be hot to very hot during the day, with relative humidity over coastal areas, while it will be warm to moderate at night, with relative humidity along the coasts.

Zarar Al-Ali, the acting director of the department, said that weather maps and numerical models indicate that the country is affected by the extension of the Indian monsoon low, accompanied by a hot and relatively humid air mass, with northwesterly to variable winds, light to moderate in speed.

He added that today’s (Friday) daytime weather will be very hot, with expected maximum temperatures ranging between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius. He noted that nighttime weather will be warm to moderate, with light to moderate northwesterly winds ranging between 12 and 35 kilometers per hour, and the appearance of some high clouds, while expected minimum temperatures will range between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius.

He stated that the sea will have light to moderate waves, with heights ranging between one and five feet. Regarding tomorrow’s (Saturday) weather, Al-Ali forecast that very hot conditions will continue during the day, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius.
