Erdogan: We have established the Makkah Alliance to address the challenges we face

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Tuesday that the Mecca Agreement on Collective Defense among Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan strengthens solidarity among the three countries and supports reaching solutions to regional issues from within the region. In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Erdogan added that the three countries are continuing to work with relevant parties to end the atmosphere of conflict and war that erupted in the Gulf. He warned against attempts to expand the scope of conflicts and clashes to neighboring areas, emphasizing that such moves do not serve anyone’s interests. Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan signed the Mecca Agreement on Collective Defense on August 7 of last year, which stipulates that any armed aggression against one of the three countries shall be considered an aggression against all of them, and aims to enhance cooperation, deterrence, and collective defense.
