Prince's Representative: The current phase requires international efforts to de-escalate tensions
His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the Blessed State of Kuwait, may God protect and preserve him, was represented today by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Crown Prince, may God protect him, who met with His Excellency Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the headquarters of the international organization in New York. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
At the outset of the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect him, conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the Blessed State of Kuwait, may God protect and preserve him, to His Excellency. His Highness also affirmed Kuwait’s commitment to active participation in the work of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He pointed to the critical nature of the current phase and the need for concerted efforts by the international community to de-escalate tensions at all levels. His Highness, may God protect him, emphasized the importance of activating the role of the United Nations and enhancing its mechanisms to address successive crises, thereby contributing to establishing the foundations of regional and international security and stability and achieving the goals of sustainable development.
For his part, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, praised the historic and pioneering role of the State of Kuwait in supporting the international organization. He commended Kuwait’s vigorous diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and settle conflicts through peaceful means, its continuous support for humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of affected populations, and its backing of the noble United Nations activities dedicated to maintaining international peace and security.
The meeting also included a review of the latest developments and the evolving situation on the regional and international scenes, particularly the efforts being made to end tensions in the region. The two sides exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation to address the growing global challenges.
