Security escalation in the West Bank as the occupation continues its violations
Occupation forces continued their violations in the West Bank amid a security escalation following a shooting incident targeting a settler north of Ramallah. Arab media reported that occupation forces stormed a hospital in the Al-Irsal neighborhood of Ramallah after receiving information that an injured individual, believed to be the perpetrator of the attack, was inside. They noted that large numbers of occupation army troops moved to the area and began sealing its entry and exit points following the attack, as part of a search operation for the perpetrator. Additionally, the Chief of Staff of the occupation army, Eyal Zamir, ordered the deployment of additional forces to the Halamish area in the West Bank. The occupation authorities closed six military checkpoints and the entrances to towns and villages north and east of Ramallah following the shooting incident near the Halamish settlement.
In a related development, occupation forces opened fire on two Palestinians near the Ghanim checkpoint east of Jenin in the northern West Bank. Meanwhile, the occupation army claimed that its forces killed one person and arrested another who were in a vehicle and had attempted to carry out a vehicle-ramming attack against soldiers at a military checkpoint near the Ghanim settlement, with no injuries reported among its forces.
Early Sunday morning, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society stated that its teams treated two individuals injured in an attack by settlers in the Wadi al-Sha’ir area between the village of Al-Lubban al-Sharqiyah and the city of Salfit. One injury resulted from a knife wound to the thigh, while the other was a head injury.
For its part, the Palestinian news agency (Wafa) reported that occupation forces detained a citizen early Sunday morning from the town of Aqaba north of Tuba. The agency cited local sources as saying that occupation forces detained the citizen, Ayman Qasim, father of two prisoners, after raiding his home in the town.
On Saturday evening, the agency reported that occupation forces had detained eight Palestinians, including a father and his son, from the village of Ad-Daqiqah in the desert area of the city of Yatta, south of Hebron Governorate in the occupied southern West Bank. It clarified that their detention came after “terrorist settlers attacked citizens and attempted to steal livestock from the village.”
