US Warns Citizens in the Middle East: Possibility of Flight Cancellations

The U.S. Department of State issued a warning on Sunday to its citizens in several Middle Eastern countries about the possibility of a rapid and unexpected escalation, with Iran or its allied groups potentially targeting U.S. interests. The department noted on its official website and social media accounts that “given the tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex, with the potential for unexpected escalation.” It added, “U.S. citizens currently in the Middle East should exercise maximum caution and vigilance, and remain aware of the possibility of flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.” The department also indicated that U.S. diplomatic facilities, including those outside the Middle East, have been targeted. The U.S. Department of State further stated that Iran and its allied groups may target other U.S. interests abroad, or sites associated with the United States and Americans worldwide, including U.S. companies and institutions.
