From providing water to displaced persons and treating the wounded, to ensuring access to bread and promoting economic empowerment, Kuwait is addressing the complexities of humanitarian crises through a comprehensive vision under the umbrella of the “Kuwait Is With You” campaign. Guided by high-level directives, the campaign aims to consolidate Kuwait’s position as a global hub for creating sustainable humanitarian impact. This operational synergy within Kuwait’s humanitarian strategy has successfully formulated an innovative relief model that transcends geographical borders, adapting flexibly to the nature of needs and transforming aid from a response to transient circumstances into a tool for restoring stability and building the future.
In this context, the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) launched the “Water Supply” project to provide safe and potable drinking water to displaced and affected families in shelter centers, as part of its humanitarian response to basic needs in the Gaza Strip. The organization’s Director General, Engineer Badr Al-Samit, told KUNA that the project will run for two months and provide approximately five million liters of drinking water, benefiting more than 115,000 displaced and affected families, at a total cost exceeding 59,000 Kuwaiti dinars.
He noted that since October 7, 2023, the organization has committed more than $23 million to support over 8.4 million beneficiaries in the Gaza Strip through approximately 143 projects in the fields of relief, health, education, and development, while 26 additional projects are currently being implemented.
Al-Samit added that the organization’s interventions have included providing food, water, shelter, and healthcare, as well as education and empowerment, emphasizing the continued focus on the most urgent needs and support for affected and displaced Palestinian families.
In another humanitarian effort that has given patients a chance to be relieved of pain, Al-Safa Humanitarian Charity Association concluded its “With Your Giving, We Rescue Them 25” and “Your Giving Is Healing 4” missions after two weeks of medical and relief work in several Turkish cities, with the participation of a select group of Kuwaiti doctors and consultants.
The association’s Chairman, Muhammad Al-Shaie, confirmed that the Kuwaiti medical delegation performed approximately 300 surgical operations for patients in need, covering general surgery, urology, otolaryngology (ENT), and pediatric surgery, in addition to examinations, consultations, and therapeutic services.
Al-Shaie explained that the “With Your Giving, We Rescue Them 25” mission also included sponsoring families, widows, and orphans, and distributing food baskets, clothing, bags, and school supplies, alongside economic empowerment projects. These include providing light three-wheeled vehicles (tuk-tuks) and sewing machines, helping families secure a source of income.
In Yemen, Kuwaiti charity took on another dimension of compassion when it was transformed into a loaf of bread delivered daily to the tables of needy families, alleviating the burden of their living conditions. This was achieved through the launch of the “Kuwait Charitable Bakery” project in Hadhramaut Governorate by the Kuwaiti Association for Cultural Exchange, under the “Kuwait Is With You” campaign.
The association’s Director, Abdullah Al-Shahab, confirmed that the project covers an area of 281 square meters and targets poor, dignified, and needy families by producing 10,000 loaves of bread daily to meet one of the most essential food needs.
