A summer without power outages... and a successful minister

Summer has nearly turned its final pages after months of high temperatures, humidity, and a war marked by air-raid sirens and the sounds of intercepting drones and missiles, among other things. It was an exceptional, unprecedented season in its climatic and political dimensions. We have grown accustomed, every summer, to a state of frustration and complaints over power outages—what we knew as scheduled outages rotating between different areas. Newspapers have extensively covered the issue of summer power cuts in recent years, and successive ministers and the ministry have repeatedly attempted to solve the “puzzle” of these outages, yet the situation remained unchanged, as the late saying goes. Then came this summer, revealing that it was unlike previous summers in terms of power outages—a fact that must be acknowledged. We did not experience the same level of outages as before, although there were some incidents that may have been beyond the ministry’s control, such as technical faults or other unforeseen issues, which are matters beyond human control.

Since Dr. Sabih Al-Mukhazim took over the ministry, he and his team have been making concerted efforts to address the “plague of summer outages.” Their efforts have culminated in a successful summer with either no outages or significantly fewer than those we endured in previous summers. This achievement is a credit to the minister and his team, despite the hot summer we experienced over the past few months.

Water and electricity are two prominent pillars of our daily lives, indispensable to any individual. Therefore, preserving them requires awareness of their value to our daily existence. It is enough to consider the hardship we face when even a single outage of water or electricity occurs. Long live you.
