Kuwait unanimously endorses its candidacy for the Board of Governors of the IAEA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s gratitude to the member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for their unanimous endorsement during the 70th session of the General Conference, electing Kuwait to a seat on the Agency’s Board of Governors for the 2026–2028 term, representing the Middle East and South Asia (MESA) group.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry noted that this reflects the confidence placed in the State of Kuwait and its active role in supporting international efforts to enhance cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy.
The Ministry affirmed that Kuwait’s membership on the Board of Governors is a continuation of its steadfast approach to supporting the nuclear non-proliferation regime, strengthening the Agency’s safeguards system, and upholding the highest standards of nuclear safety and security, thereby contributing to the preservation of international peace and security and the promotion of international cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
Kuwait reaffirmed its commitment to multilateralism and close cooperation with the IAEA and its member states to achieve common objectives and support international efforts to safeguard international peace and security and promote the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
