Ministry of Social Affairs dissolves Al-Jahra Cooperative's board of directors and appoints an interim board

Faisal Mutair reported that Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Children Affairs, Dr. Amal Al-Huwaileh, issued a ministerial decision dissolving the board of directors of the Al-Jahra Cooperative Society and appointing an interim board of directors to manage the society’s affairs. This decision was made in light of the findings from the inspection, audit, and oversight activities conducted by the ministry.
Al-Huwaileh affirmed that the decision is part of the ministry’s supervisory and regulatory responsibilities over the cooperative sector, and reflects its commitment to protecting shareholders’ funds and reinforcing principles of integrity, transparency, governance, and compliance with the laws and regulations governing cooperative operations.
She clarified that the ministry has also decided to refer several incidents, along with the individuals involved among the society’s employees, to the Public Prosecution for investigation into the allegations against them and to determine legal responsibilities based on the outcomes of the investigations.
Al-Huwaileh added that the appointment of an interim board of directors aims to ensure the continuity of the society’s operations and the regular provision of services to shareholders and residents of the area, safeguarding their interests during the transitional period until the required legal and regulatory procedures are completed.
She emphasized that the ministry will continue its oversight and audit activities over cooperative societies and take legal action against any violations detected, thereby protecting shareholders’ funds and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the cooperative sector.
