Nicaraguan Ambassador: Kuwait faced the region's crises with patience and self-restraint

Mia Al-Sakri – The Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the country, Mohamed Farrah Lashtar, affirmed the depth of bilateral relations between the two nations, noting that they are grounded in a historical friendship, mutual respect, and fruitful developmental cooperation.

On the sidelines of his embassy’s celebration of the 205th anniversary of the Republic’s independence, attended by Ahmad Shinar Al-Bukhait, Counselor for Protocol Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lashtar expressed his country’s desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with Kuwait in several sectors, foremost among them health, education, transportation, tourism, and investment.

Lashtar praised the wisdom of Kuwait’s leadership and its balanced approach in dealing with regional crises, emphasizing that Kuwait represents a model of balance, diplomacy, and restraint. He stressed that dialogue remains the only path to achieving security, peace, and the resolution of crises.

Regarding regional developments, he expressed hope that the region would enjoy lasting peace, while expressing regret over what he described as erroneous policies that have contributed to the exacerbation of crises and tensions.

He pointed to developments related to the Strait of Hormuz, clarifying that the strait had been open to global trade movements normally, before crises and escalation policies led to its closure. He considered that reopening it does not address the root of the problem, and that achieving peace requires addressing the causes that led to the tensions.

He praised the wisdom of Kuwait’s leadership, affirming that Kuwait was among the most affected countries by the repercussions of regional crises, yet it has been able, thanks to the wisdom of its leadership, to handle various circumstances with patience, balance, restraint, and diplomacy.

He added that Kuwait’s balanced policy has contributed to protecting the country and dealing wisely with crises, expressing his hope that diplomatic efforts will succeed in ending the tensions, and stressing that “there is no escape and no alternative to dialogue.”
