Kuwait hosts the Saudi Super Cup with participation from Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsiah, and Al-Khaleej
Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, announced on Monday that Kuwait will host the 2026–2027 Saudi Super Cup in December at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, featuring Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsia, and Al-Khaleej.
In a press statement following the signing of the agreement, Minister Al-Jalahma emphasized that hosting the 13th edition of the Saudi Super Cup, scheduled from December 19 to 23, represents a significant Gulf sporting event that enhances the country’s standing on the map of major sports tournaments and events. He stated that hosting such events is a result of the strong support for Kuwaiti sports by the political leadership, represented by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah; and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister. He stressed the commitment to translating these high directives to elevate Kuwaiti sports and raise the country’s flag high at various international forums.
He added that hosting the Saudi Super Cup marks the first surprise of the “Kuwait Youth and Sports Season,” which includes a series of distinctive events, tournaments, and initiatives. The season aims to attract special events that help consolidate Kuwait’s position as a destination for hosting major sports activities. He noted that Kuwait’s selection to host the tournament reflects confidence in its organizational capabilities, its sports infrastructure, and its expertise in successfully delivering major events. He pointed out that the hosting will provide the tournament with significant fan and media momentum, given the popularity of Saudi football among the Kuwaiti public.
He praised the role of the Al-Rai Media Group alliance and Aayan Leasing and Investment Company in bringing the tournament to Kuwait, affirming that this initiative embodies the ability of the Kuwaiti private sector to be an active partner in supporting the sports sector and hosting and organizing major events.
Minister Al-Jalahma clarified that the importance of hosting the tournament extends beyond the sporting aspect to include economic, media, and developmental dimensions that can activate several sectors and enhance the sports events industry. He stressed that relevant authorities will work to deliver a distinctive version of the Saudi Super Cup befitting Kuwait’s name and strengthening the enduring sports and brotherly ties between Kuwait and the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Public Authority for Youth and Sports launched the “Kuwait Youth and Sports Season” project on Sunday, aimed at organizing and developing youth and sports activities in the country, alongside announcing a new visual identity following the merger of the Youth Authority and the Sports Authority.
The announcement of Kuwait’s hosting of the Saudi Super Cup comes after the launch of the “Kuwait Youth and Sports Season” on Saturday at an event held at the Jaber Cultural Center, under the patronage of the Council of Ministers and attended by Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma. This is a national initiative that brings together the public and private sectors to organize and develop youth and sports activities in the country.
