Donald Trump’s childhood home in New York sold for $2 million

The home where U.S. President Donald Trump lived during the early years of his childhood in New York City has been sold for nearly $2 million. U.S. media reported that Fred Trump, the current president’s father and a real estate developer, built the house in 1940 in the upscale Jamaica neighborhood. The family lived there for several years before moving to a larger home in the same neighborhood when the president was four years old.

Media reports stated that the sale price was $1.93 million, listed on real estate platforms on Friday, adding that the purchase contract was signed last July. The identity of the new owner of the home, which underwent extensive renovations lasting several months after standing vacant and neglected for years, was not disclosed.

For years, the Trump family had sold the property, which changed hands multiple times. The previous owner was real estate developer Tommy Lin, who bought the house last year for $835,000. Lin spent approximately $500,000 renovating the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home, transforming it from a cat-infested property into a modern residence with hardwood floors, spa-like bathrooms, and a professional chef’s kitchen, according to the U.S. “New York Post.”

In 2017, just months after Trump assumed the presidency, the house was sold for $2.14 million. For a brief period, the owners listed the property for rent on Airbnb. It was then put up for sale in 2019 for $2.9 million but remained unsold until Lin purchased it last year.

President Trump built his fortune in real estate, constructing the Trump Tower in Manhattan, where he lived for decades. After becoming president, he left his own mark on the White House by adding a large ballroom at a cost of $400 million, a move that sparked controversy reaching the courts.
