Minister of Development and Sustainability and Applied Education Director discuss strategic partnership

The Minister of State for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, and the Director General of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET), Dr. Hassan Al-Fajam, held a coordination meeting to discuss a strategic partnership aimed at embedding sustainability as a measurable institutional practice within the applied education and training system.

In a press statement on Monday, PAAET said the two sides discussed implementing the Government Environmental Sustainability Reporting System across the authority’s colleges, institutes, and facilities, including measuring indicators for energy, water, waste, and resource consumption, and building a documented database to support decision-making and identify improvement opportunities.

The statement added that the meeting reviewed existing educational outcomes to integrate sustainability standards into curricula, and directed a portion of research and graduation projects toward national priorities and initiatives determined in coordination with the Ministry.

It further clarified that the meeting addressed gradually transforming the authority’s facilities into a practical sustainability model by enhancing energy and water efficiency, waste segregation, environmental impact assessment, and producing an institutional sustainability report, alongside activating community service and lifelong learning programs, sustainability ambassadors and clubs, volunteer initiatives, and green entrepreneurship.

The statement noted efforts to develop indicators and digital dashboards, and to support the green building trend in the authority’s future projects. It also confirmed agreement to translate these pathways into an organized cooperation framework encompassing joint initiatives and clear indicators for monitoring and impact measurement.
