First-grade students kick off the new academic year

First-grade students launched the new academic year this Sunday morning, while students in the remaining grades of primary, intermediate, and secondary levels will begin classes tomorrow, Monday. Schools welcomed students with flowers, balloons, animated displays, recreational competitions, and awareness activities, aiming to provide an attractive and entertaining environment for children. Classes for kindergarten children are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

The Ministry of Education confirmed its readiness to welcome students and the commencement of the 2026–2027 academic year, ensuring that schools, teaching staff, and administrative personnel are prepared, and that an appropriate educational environment is provided for learners. It also emphasized completing all requirements related to the start of classes and ensuring a safe and stable educational environment that contributes to the continuity of the educational process and the achievement of its objectives from the first day.

The ministry stated that the total number of students in government schools, private Arabic schools, and religious education institutions amounts to 481,511 students. This figure includes students across all educational stages and Arabic educational systems welcoming students at the start of the new academic year.

The Ministry of Education clarified that the total number of students in general education in government schools is 391,604, while the total number of students in private Arabic (independent) schools is 86,762. Meanwhile, the number of students in religious education stands at 3,145, bringing the total number of students to 481,511.
