Red Crescent Society launches first aid awareness campaign at The Avenues
The Kuwait Red Crescent Society launched today (Saturday) an event for the World First Aid Day campaign at the Avenues Mall, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of first aid, promote its culture among members of society, and reinforce basic skills for dealing with emergency cases.
Khaled Al-Mughams, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors, told KUNA that disseminating first aid culture and enhancing community awareness of its basic skills are of great importance, given the role these skills play in saving lives and reducing the complications of injuries and emergency cases until specialized medical teams arrive.
Al-Mughams added that the Society places significant emphasis on training and awareness in the field of first aid, in line with its humanitarian mission and its commitment to strengthening individuals’ ability to respond properly and swiftly to various emergency situations. He emphasized that first aid is a fundamental knowledge that should be reinforced across all segments of society, and is not a skill limited to healthcare workers.
He noted that possessing the correct skills during the initial moments after an incident can make a real difference in protecting the victim’s life and safety. He pointed out that the Society continues to organize training courses and programs for volunteers, the public, and various entities and institutions, covering initial assessment of the injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and dealing with bleeding, wounds, burns, and various emergency cases.
He indicated that the Society has sought this year to enhance the readiness of its volunteers as part of emergency preparedness and response plans, through organizing diverse workshops and training courses on first aid and procedures for handling cases requiring rapid intervention.
He reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to expanding the scope of its training programs and strengthening its cooperation with state institutions and various entities to reach the largest possible segment of society, particularly youth, and to reinforce the concept that first aid is a social responsibility and skill that can contribute to saving human lives.
