Prison Break returns in a new series titled Black Creek

The Prison Break universe returns to the screen, but this time with a different story and new characters, through the highly anticipated series Prison Break: Black Creek, whose production phase has officially begun, coinciding with the release of the first teaser clips. The new series does not represent a direct sixth season of the original series’ events; rather, its story unfolds in the same universe with new characters, meaning viewers will not follow the adventures of brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows as they did in previous seasons. The narrative centers on Cassidy Collins, a former soldier who becomes an employee at a high-security prison. Collins accepts the job for personal reasons, seeking to rescue someone she loves, and finds herself confronting a world filled with dangers and conflicts within the prison. Actress Emily Browning stars as Cassidy Collins, alongside Lukas Gage as Jackson, a wealthy politician launching his first congressional campaign, and Drake Rodger as Tommy, an inmate who spent ten years behind bars. The series is developed by Elgin James, who previously worked on Mayans M.C., and Hulu officially ordered the series after a development and pilot stage. Although Black Creek is connected to the Prison Break universe, there are no indications that Wentworth Miller will return as Michael Scofield or Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows in the new storyline, which opts to launch with different characters and an independent adventure. As for the release date, it has not been officially announced yet. According to recent reports, production began in September 2026, making a 2027 release likely, though not an officially confirmed date. The series is set to premiere on Hulu, with availability on Disney+ in select markets.
