Samsung Mocks 'iPhone Duo': Reheating Our Leftovers

Samsung did not miss the opportunity to mock Apple, coinciding with the official entry of its American rival into the foldable smartphone market. Samsung Mobile US accounts posted a series of sarcastic comments on the X platform during Apple’s event in California. The shardest remarks came after Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, priced starting at $1,999, when Samsung wrote: “Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers,” a sarcastic reference to Apple entering the market years after Samsung launched its first foldable phones. Samsung had preceded Apple in this category by about seven years, with its Galaxy Z series becoming one of the most prominent brands in the foldable smartphone market, while Apple spent years developing its device before its official launch. Samsung did not wait for the reveal of the foldable phone to begin its mocking campaign; during Apple’s presentation of one of its products, it commented: “So far, nothing noteworthy,” implying that what its competitor presented did not represent a significant leap compared to what was already on the market. As Apple showcased the design of the iPhone 18 Pro and its camera cover, Samsung continued to provoke Apple, saying: “Looks very familiar. Is this a new part of The Sims?” referring to what it considered minor changes in the external design. Apple held back the reveal of its foldable phone until the end of the event, before it appeared in the company’s famous “One more thing” segment. Samsung quickly responded: “Making us wait? Fine. We’ll be here, tri-folding,” a reference to the Galaxy Z TriFold multi-fold phone.
