Mexican Ambassador: Kuwait plays a pivotal role in Middle East stability
Mejri Al-Sukari: The Mexican Ambassador to Kuwait, Eduardo Patricio Peña Haller, affirmed that his country places great importance on its established relations with Kuwait and is keen to continue strengthening the bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation between the two countries, in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly peoples. He praised Kuwait’s historic and pivotal role as a mediator contributing to enhancing stability in the Middle East region, expressing his hope that peace and prosperity will once again prevail in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the broader region.
This was stated in a statement obtained by Al-Qabas, on the occasion of Mexico’s celebration of the 216th anniversary of its independence.
Haller said that Mexican-Kuwaiti relations are based on “mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and a shared commitment to international cooperation,” emphasizing his country’s aspiration to continue building bridges of communication between the two nations and exploring new horizons for cooperation that would benefit both peoples.
He noted that Mexico and Kuwait established their diplomatic relations in 1975, and since then, bilateral relations have witnessed steady development over five decades, encompassing various political, economic, and cultural fields, alongside growing interaction and exchange between the two peoples.
He added that the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025 marks an important milestone in highlighting the depth of the ties binding Mexico and Kuwait, and renewing the shared commitment to continue expanding bilateral cooperation areas.
He expressed his country’s appreciation for the constructive role played by Kuwait in supporting dialogue and the peaceful settlement of conflicts, as well as enhancing international cooperation, pointing out that Mexico continues its commitment to work closely with Kuwait within the framework of the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
