Al-Milhem: Academic expertise is a qualitative addition to the university's journey

Dr. Dina Al-Milhem, President of Kuwait University, confirmed on Wednesday that the joining of new academic and supporting academic staff members to the university represents a qualitative addition to its scientific journey and a partnership in continuing its national mission and developing its education and research systems. This statement was made by Dr. Al-Milhem during a meeting organized by the university, represented by the Vice President for Academic Affairs sector, to welcome the new academic and supporting academic staff and prepare them to begin their journey at the university with the launch of the 2026–2027 academic year, attended by several university leaders.

Al-Milhem stated that the joining of new academic talents marks the beginning of a new stage in their academic and professional careers, and an extension of a national journey that has carried its message across generations of academics who contributed their knowledge and dedication to building the university and serving Kuwait. She added that the responsibility of an academic staff member goes beyond transferring knowledge to building students’ capacities and developing their thinking, research, and creativity skills, alongside contributing to knowledge production and directing it toward issues and priorities that serve Kuwait and support its developmental trajectory.

She clarified that Kuwait University places its academic and supporting academic staff at the core of its efforts to achieve its strategic objectives based on quality, innovation, distinguished presence, and sustainability, thereby enhancing the quality of education and research and consolidating the university’s position and national role.

Al-Milhem noted that the university continues to develop its educational and academic environment and strengthen digital transformation by utilizing modern technologies and expanding the use of digital solutions, keeping pace with the requirements of education and research and opening broader spaces for innovation and development. She emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening its community partnerships and linking its academic and research expertise with Kuwait’s needs and developmental priorities, in addition to building effective partnerships with state institutions and the private sector, and enhancing regional and international cooperation.

She expressed confidence that the expertise and ideas of the new academic and supporting academic staff will constitute a significant addition to the university, contributing to the development of the educational and research experience and opening new fields for cooperation and innovation. She stressed the aim to provide an academic environment that nurtures their aspirations, enabling them to develop their capacities and transform their ideas into achievements that will positively impact students, the university, and society.

The meeting was attended by several university leaders and officials, and featured presentations on the most prominent aspects related to academic, research, and educational affairs, including programs supporting scientific research, promotions, academic leave, and university regulations, alongside the university’s strategic directions, evaluation and measurement mechanisms, and supporting academic services.
