Ministry of Education: Procedures to terminate the services of 7,019 expatriate teachers have begun

The Ministry of Education has begun implementing the first phase of its plan to address the surplus in teaching staff, sending termination notices to expatriate teachers covered by the decisions, “from Arab and other nationalities.” Dozens of teachers affected by the termination received notifications via the “Sahel” app, titled “Notice of Contract Termination,” which stated: “We inform you that the Ministry of Education is in the process of terminating the second contract concluded with you while it is still in effect, in accordance with Article 4 bis of the second contract, while observing the stipulated notice period.” The ministry had previously announced an actual surplus of approximately 33,268 male and female teachers, including Kuwaiti nationals, contracted staff from Gulf countries, and residents employed illegally, as well as teachers from Arab and other nationalities. The first phase involves terminating the services of about 7,019 male and female teachers who are contracted staff in specialties where data showed a surplus, in accordance with approved administrative and legal procedures, while safeguarding their employment rights.
