Professor Khaled Al-Namer warns again: Continuous exposure to incense smoke is dangerous to the heart

Dr. Wala’a Hafiz – Saudi cardiologist and professor of cardiovascular diseases, coronary angioplasty, and nuclear imaging, Professor Khaled Al-Nemer, has once again warned about the dangers of daily and chronic exposure to incense smoke inside homes, particularly over long periods. Al-Nemer stated that continuous exposure to incense smoke may be associated with an increased risk of death from heart and brain diseases by up to 12%, noting that incense smoke contains fine particles and pollutants that can negatively affect the heart and blood vessels. Numerous studies have previously warned about the health effects resulting from repeated exposure to incense smoke, especially in enclosed and poorly ventilated spaces, due to the fine particles and pollutants produced by its combustion, which can be inhaled and reach the respiratory system and bloodstream. Al-Nemer emphasized the importance of avoiding frequent and prolonged exposure to incense smoke, while ensuring that enclosed spaces are well-ventilated when it is used.
