Termination of services for those over 67 in cooperative societies to make way for youth opportunities

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has called on cooperative societies and federations to identify employees who have exceeded the age of 67 and take the necessary measures to terminate their services, in accordance with the laws, regulations, and decisions governing the sector, while preserving and paying their full entitled financial and employment rights. A senior source in the ministry told Al-Qabas that the ministry has written to the Federation of Cooperative Societies, instructing it to circulate a directive to the boards of directors of the societies to swiftly implement the required measures, as part of efforts to regulate the status of employees and support replacement plans in the cooperative sector. The source clarified that the directive aligns with the ministry’s strategy to develop the sector and enhance the efficiency of its human resources, while creating opportunities for young, qualified national talents, in line with the state’s direction toward developing human capital and achieving the targets of Kuwait Vision 2035. He added that the ministry has requested confirmation of the directive’s implementation, along with a list of names of employees subject to termination procedures, within a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of receipt. The source emphasized the necessity for boards of directors of cooperative societies and federations to comply with the directive, given its impact on enhancing work efficiency, sustaining institutional performance, and empowering national talents in the public interest.
