Kuwait Airways General Authority Elects New Board of Directors
The General Assembly of Kuwait Airways Company approved the appointment of a new board of directors, a step that completes the legal and regulatory procedures linked to the new phase for the national carrier, particularly after the company’s transformation into a commercial entity subject to the provisions of the Companies Law and the associated requirements for forming and electing board members. The new board includes Nasser Al-Ruwain, Abdulmohsen Al-Mikhaizim, Hanan Al-Faris, Nour Al-Jassim, and Mishari Al-Hunaidi, alongside three foreign members, reflecting a strategy aimed at enriching the board with specialized international expertise and leveraging global experiences in the aviation sector.
The board’s appointment comes as part of completing the legal procedures that require convening a general assembly to elect a new board of directors, in line with the new legal and regulatory status of Kuwait Airways Company as a commercial entity governed by the Companies Law.
A source familiar with the matter told Al-Qabas that the inclusion of three foreign members in the new Kuwait Airways board composition carries significant implications for the direction the company seeks to pursue in the coming phase, through greater openness to global aviation expertise and the utilization of advanced international experiences in management, operations, and strategic planning.
The presence of foreign expertise alongside national talents on the board will provide a blend of local and international knowledge, supporting decision-making processes and facilitating the transfer of knowledge and global best practices to the company, especially amid the major transformations in the air transport industry and the growing competition among airlines in the region.
The new composition reflects a shift toward moving Kuwait Airways into a different stage of institutional and operational development, based on enhancing managerial efficiency, leveraging specialized expertise, and establishing a more competitive vision aligned with the rapid changes in the global aviation sector.
