Interior Ministry: Four suspects arrested in cases of drug importation and trafficking

The Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday the arrest of four suspects in two separate cases involving the importation, trafficking, and use of narcotics and psychotropic substances. In a press statement, the General Administration of Security Relations and Media at the ministry said that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Administration for Combating Narcotics, in coordination with the General Administration of Customs, arrested three suspects in a case of importing narcotics and psychotropic substances from abroad through one of the land border crossings with the intent to traffic them. It clarified that information had been received regarding two of the suspects bringing the seized items from abroad; they were apprehended immediately upon their entry, and upon being confronted with investigative findings, they confessed that they intended to hand them over to a third suspect, who was later arrested. The statement added that investigations revealed the suspects had been in contact with a person residing abroad to arrange the receipt and transportation of the drugs, noting that coordination had been established with relevant security authorities abroad to continue investigations into the parties involved in the case. The seized items included 300 tablets of Captagon, 150 grams of cocaine, 150 sheets of A4 drug, 10 grams of hashish, and a sensitive scale.
