58 million tourists visited Spain in 7 months

As a sign of its continued appeal as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations, Spain welcomed 58.1 million international tourists during the first seven months of this year, a 4.6% increase compared to the same period last year, while tourism revenues surged to 82 billion euros. The Spanish National Statistics Institute said in a statement that the growth was driven by strong sector performance in July, which alone saw around 11.5 million international tourists arrive, a 4.6% year-on-year increase. The rise in visitor numbers was reflected in tourism revenues, which reached 82 billion euros ($95.1 billion) from January to July, up 7.8% compared to the same period in 2025. In July alone, tourism revenues jumped to 18.2 billion euros ($21.1 billion), a 10.9% year-on-year increase, indicating that tourist spending is growing at a faster pace than the number of visitors.

The United Kingdom topped the list of source markets for tourists to Spain, with 11.5 million British visitors arriving during the first seven months of the year, a 4.6% increase, followed by France with more than 7.2 million tourists, up 1.2%, and then Germany with around 6.9 million tourists, down 0.5% year-on-year.

In terms of destinations, Catalonia led the regions most visited by tourists with around 11.9 million visitors, followed by the Balearic Islands with 9.2 million, and then the Canary Islands with around 9 million tourists. These results come after Spain set a historic record in 2025 by welcoming 96.8 million international tourists, a 3.2% increase over 2024, reinforcing its position at the top of global tourist destinations.
