US Treasury Secretary: We know where the accounts of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps leadership are held in the Virgin Islands

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday that the United States is tracking the assets of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) around the world, affirming that Washington knows the locations of accounts linked to the IRGC and properties valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. Speaking on Fox Business, Bessent said, “We are tracking the assets of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, and I will say this on global television, so you know: We know where your accounts are in the British Virgin Islands with these credit companies.” He added, “We know there are homes worth $100 million around the world. We will freeze them. We will reach out to our partners and shut all of that down.” The U.S. Treasury Secretary clarified that Washington would pursue what he described as “illegitimate assets of the regime,” which he said were seized from the Iranian people, noting the possibility of returning these assets to Iranians or directing them to victims of terrorism, including the families of soldiers aboard the U.S. destroyer Cole. In a related development, Bessent revealed economic measures aimed at strangling Iran’s funding sources, warning that the Trump administration could deny banks, companies, and other entities dealing with the Iranian regime access to the U.S. dollar-based financial system.
