Trump proposes renaming the Strait of Hormuz to the "Trump Strait"

U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed renaming the Strait of Hormuz to the “Trump Strait,” following his announcement that the strategic waterway is now under U.S. control. In a post, Trump wrote, “Now that it is under the control of the United States, should we change the name of the Strait of Hormuz to the Trump Strait?” He added that if it bore his name, the strait would be “more important than ever.” Trump’s proposal comes amid escalating tensions with Iran, with the Strait of Hormuz emerging as one of the key arenas of conflict due to its strategic importance for global trade and energy supplies. Trump had previously declared that the United States now controls the strait, as Washington continues its military operations against Iran, stating that its actions aim to ensure freedom of navigation in the waterway.
