Sisi to his Chinese counterpart: Taiwan is an inseparable part of China

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reaffirmed his country’s steadfast commitment to the “One China” principle, emphasizing that Taiwan is an inseparable part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China, and affirming Egypt’s support for China’s position on issues related to its sovereignty and territorial integrity. This was stated in a joint statement between Egypt and China, coinciding with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Egypt and the celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cairo and Beijing. The statement noted that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to recognize the People’s Republic of China and establish diplomatic relations with it in 1956, clarifying that relations between the two countries have witnessed notable and steady development over the past seven decades, based on the principles of equality, trust, mutual benefit, solidarity, cooperation, and win-win outcomes. Both sides affirmed that Egypt-China relations have contributed to enhancing the spirit of friendship and cooperation between China and Arab and African countries, and have become a model of cooperation based on shared interests.
