"The Singer Who Revives the Soul": Mohammed Mohsen Recaptures the Memory of Arabic Song

Artist Mohammed Mohsen is preparing to host a musical evening titled “The Singer, Life of the Soul,” which will celebrate the heritage of Arabic song, revisiting key milestones in its artistic and emotional history. The event will take place at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre on September 24.

Executive producer Ali Al-Nassif said, “The project is rooted in the belief that Arabic musical heritage is not merely a memory we recall, but a living, evolving legacy. Its lyrics and melodies carry a significant part of Arab identity and sensibility, and deserve to remain present and accessible to different generations.” He added that Mohammed Mohsen was chosen for his authentic connection to this musical genre and his ability to present it with a sensibility that preserves its artistic value and identity, while simultaneously making it relatable to today’s audience.

Al-Nassif clarified that the project aims to deliver a comprehensive musical experience that goes beyond reviving timeless songs, guiding the audience into their stories, contexts, and the narratives behind them.

For his part, director Jasem Al-Qamus stated that the creative vision of “The Singer, Life of the Soul” is based on treating the song as a story, a memory, and a shared experience that the audience lives through, rather than as an isolated musical work. He highlighted that one of Mohammed Mohsen’s most distinctive qualities is his relationship with the audience on stage: he does not merely perform songs, but shares their stories with attendees and gives them space to sing along, transforming the evening into an interactive experience that unites the artist and the audience. This aligns with the project’s overarching vision.

Al-Qamus explained that Mohammed Mohsen will lead the audience on a musical journey spanning from the works of Sayed Darwish to contemporary songs, passing through key moments and songs that left their mark on Arab memory and sensibility, while pausing to share the stories and anecdotes behind the works beloved by audiences across generations.
