Nasser Al-Busaili: Strengthening the Relationship Between the Security Institution and Society

The Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday its readiness to launch a comprehensive security awareness campaign under the slogan “Protection and Safety,” coinciding with the start of the new academic year. The campaign aims to raise awareness and security culture and to instill preventive behaviors among members of society.

In a press statement issued by the ministry, Director General of the General Administration of Security Relations and Media, Brigadier General Nasser Bousleib, said that the “Protection and Safety” campaign is part of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to enhance prevention and raise security and community awareness among various segments. The campaign will run throughout the academic year according to an integrated timeline.

Brigadier General Bousleib added that the campaign relies on a variety of media and awareness tools, alongside direct engagement with students, parents, educational institutions, and the public. This approach seeks to reinforce security behaviors and transform awareness messages into daily practices that contribute to individual protection and the enhancement of community security.

The statement noted that the campaign is built on six core pillars, selected based on their importance and related indicators and awareness needs. Each pillar features independent content and an awareness program tailored to the target age group, aiming to improve awareness indicators in security fields and strengthen the relationship between the security institution and society, ultimately achieving the highest levels of awareness and prevention.

He clarified that the campaign’s pillars will be implemented throughout the academic year using the latest print, audio, and digital media, employing creative methods in cooperation with official media outlets and social media platforms to ensure reach to all members of society.

The campaign includes a range of activities and events targeting all segments, including face-to-face meetings, lectures, and workshops with students, parents, and educational staff, coordinated with relevant authorities.

The ministry emphasized that the campaign focuses on educating students and drivers about pedestrian and driver safety, as well as the importance of wearing seat belts, crossing roads safely, and following guidelines that ensure everyone’s safety. It also includes comprehensive awareness of the new Traffic Law.

Regarding community resilience against extremist ideas and hate speech, Brigadier General Bousleib stated that the campaign stresses protecting society from extremist ideologies and hate speech, promoting moderation and national belonging, and encouraging verification of information from official sources. It also aims to strengthen environmental awareness as a shared national and community responsibility to preserve public facilities in the country.

Among the campaign’s pillars is one related to juveniles. The Juvenile Protection Law outlines the rights and responsibilities of juveniles and their families. This pillar emphasizes the importance of a sound family structure, family cohesion, continuous monitoring of children, and protecting them from violence and exploitation.

On the pillar of drug prevention, the ministry said the campaign focuses on preventing first-time experimentation, informing students and families about the dangers of drugs, recruitment tactics, and peer pressure. It stresses the importance of family dialogue, early observation, seeking treatment, and comprehensive awareness of the legal aspects of the new Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
