Media Regulation Law: Strengthening Child Protection and Preventing Media Exploitation

The draft law regulating the media in Kuwait emphasizes the protection of children’s privacy and their safeguarding from media exploitation, requiring parental consent before publishing interviews conducted with them, in a move aimed at providing greater protection for children across various media outlets and digital platforms. The Cabinet approved, during its meeting today chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, a draft decree-law issuing the media regulation law, and forwarded it to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Cabinet clarified that the draft law comes amid a radical transformation in the global media landscape, driven by technological and digital developments that have altered publishing and communication methods, reshaping concepts of publishing, broadcasting, and influence.
