Al-Jahra defeats Al-Arabi, while Al-Nasr overtakes Al-Fahaheel in the Zain League

Al-Jahra’s first football team secured a valuable 2-1 victory over Al-Arabi in the match that brought the two sides together on the second day of the second round of the Zain Premier League. This result earned the “Red Palace” side their first three points in the tournament, after they had suffered defeat in the opening round against Al-Shabab. Meanwhile, Al-Arabi’s points drought continued; the team had drawn 3-3 with Al-Kuwait in the first round before suffering their first loss at the hands of Al-Jahra.

In another match, Al-Nasr continued their impressive form, securing a second consecutive league win by defeating Al-Fahaheel 2-1.

Al-Arabi’s first defeat marked a return to facing Al-Jahra. The “Green” side started the match aggressively, pressing Al-Jahra’s defense, and managed to score first through their Palestinian foreign player Zaid Qanbar. After an individual effort and bypassing Al-Jahra’s defenders, Qanbar found the net in the 29th minute. However, Al-Jahra turned the tables in the second half, overturning their deficit to win 2-1. They scored their first goal in the 66th minute via a header by Cameroonian foreign player Crist Aflana, and added a second through teammate Abdullah Al-Dahhas in the fifth minute of stoppage time, sealing the three points.

Al-Nasr, the “Ochre” side, dominated their match. They opened the scoring in the sixth minute from a penalty kick, which Algerian foreign player Ayman Lakjaa converted to give his team the lead, ending the first half with Al-Nasr ahead. In the second half, Al-Nasr’s player Hazem Al-Hajj doubled the lead in the 47th minute following a counter-attack, which he finished with a powerful shot into the net. Al-Fahaheel responded with a brilliant free-kick goal in the 68th minute, executed by their Brazilian foreign player Vitor.

With this victory, Al-Nasr reached six points from two wins, having previously defeated Al-Salmiya in the opening match of the previous round. Al-Fahaheel remained winless after suffering their second consecutive loss, having lost to Al-Qadsia in the prior round.

Two matches concluded the second round of the league today. The first featured Kazima versus Al-Sahel at 6:40 PM at the Friendship and Peace Stadium in Kazima Club. The final match saw Al-Tadamun face Al-Salmiya at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium at 9:00 PM.

Al-Sahel, the “Orange” side, aims to secure their second win and start competing early for the league top spot, following their 3-1 victory over Al-Tadamun in the opening round, backed by outstanding performances from their players under Croatian coach Tadić. Al-Sahel hopes to continue their impressive displays in the top flight and reach six points, after winning their opening match against Salibikhaet, making them one of the teams to secure a win in the first round.

In the Al-Tadamun versus Al-Salmiya clash, both teams seek a positive result, whether a win or a draw, especially after stumbling in the opening round: Al-Tadamun lost to Kazima, while Al-Salmiya suffered defeat at the hands of Al-Nasr.
