The British government takes disciplinary action against an official who celebrated Netanyahu's death

A senior official in the UK Cabinet Office posted a message on Instagram expressing a wish for the death of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The high-ranking official wrote that she wished Netanyahu had died instead of music star Dolly Parton, in a post that garnered more than 25,000 likes. According to the British Telegraph, the UK government is taking disciplinary action against the official, who will face an investigation over her post. For his part, the Cabinet Office described the post as “unacceptable.” A spokesperson for the office said: “All civil service employees are bound by the Civil Service Code and social media platform usage rules, which set out clear guidelines for appropriate communication via personal accounts.” He added: “This post is entirely unacceptable, and appropriate action is being taken.” The official, who holds a senior position according to the Telegraph, has acknowledged responsibility for the post and will be summoned to a formal meeting shortly.
