Customs: Foiled smuggling of 1,603 sheets of A4 paper soaked in narcotic chemical

The General Directorate of Customs announced that its officers at Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 4 Customs Department thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of a narcotic chemical substance in the possession of a European national arriving from London as a visitor. The traveler was found in possession of 1,603 A4-sized sheets saturated with the narcotic chemical, with a total weight of 13.154 kilograms.

In a press statement on Sunday, Customs said this operation was carried out in accordance with directives issued by Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, aimed at strengthening customs supervision and combating attempts to smuggle prohibited substances. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Saleh Al-Omar, Deputy Director General of Customs for Port Affairs, Research, and Investigation, and was made possible thanks to the vigilance and field efforts of customs officers during inspection and monitoring activities.

The seizure followed a thorough customs inspection of the traveler’s luggage, which revealed 1,603 A4-sized sheets saturated with the narcotic chemical, weighing a total of 13.154 kilograms, in an attempt to bypass customs controls.

Customs noted that the seizure was carried out under the supervision of the Deputy Director General of Customs for Port Affairs, Research, and Investigation, who monitored the field procedures and directed the swift completion of the seizure report and the taking of necessary legal actions, paving the way for referring the suspect and the seized items to the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Alcohol, in accordance with applicable regulations.
