Interior Ministry: Egyptian and his national arrested for selling forged government stamps

The Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday that the Criminal Security Affairs Sector, represented by the Arab and International Police Affairs Department (Interpol), arrested an Egyptian resident working as a security guard at a government hospital and a Kuwaiti national employed at the same hospital, in connection with a case involving the sale and use of forged government stamps and the misappropriation of fees due to the state.

In a statement, the Ministry said that investigative efforts led to the arrest of the first suspect, during which a number of forged government stamps were found in his possession. It added that, upon questioning, he provided information leading to the arrest of the second suspect, who was found in possession of similar stamps. It was also documented that she had processed a transaction using a forged government stamp in exchange for a monetary amount.

According to the Ministry’s statement, the second suspect admitted to exploiting the nature of her job to gain financial benefit by processing transactions using forged government stamps, retaining the original stamps and reusing them in other transactions, as well as removing previously used stamps from archived records and reusing them.

The Ministry of Interior clarified that the suspects and the seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal action against them.
