Al-Qadisiya defeats Al-Fahaheel... and Kazem meets Al-Tadamun

Al-Qadsia’s first football team began its campaign in the Zain Premier League with a valuable 2-1 victory over Al-Fahaheel in the match that pitted the two sides against each other in the opening round of the competition, which kicked off yesterday. The round also saw Al-Arabi and Al-Kuwait draw 3-3.

After falling behind to a goal scored by Al-Fahaheel’s Brazilian star Vitor in the 22nd minute, Al-Qadsia turned the game around to secure a two-goal win. New signing Gabriel Orok, who recently joined the Qadsia squad, equalized in the 43rd minute. Oman international Abdulrahman Al-Mashfari then added the second goal for Al-Qadsia in the 49th minute of first-half stoppage time. The first half ended with Al-Qadsia leading 2-1, a scoreline that held until the final whistle.

With the win, Al-Qadsia, under the leadership of national coach Mohammed Ibrahim and his Serbian assistant Goran Matkovic, claimed their first three points in the race for this season’s league title, as they pursue their 18th championship in the club’s history. Meanwhile, Al-Fahaheel remain winless after their opening league match.

The match was of good quality from both sides, with both teams delivering solid performances relative to the start of the season. Tactical discipline dominated their overall play, particularly in the second half, when Al-Qadsia sought to protect their lead and see out the result to the final whistle.

In another opening-round fixture, Kazma’s first football team will begin their league campaign this season when they face Al-Tadamun at the 9:00 PM kickoff at the Kuwait Sports Club Stadium (Friendship and Peace Stadium). The match concludes the opening round of the competition. It will be preceded by another encounter between Al-Sahel and Al-Salmiya, scheduled for 7:45 PM at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium in Al-Yarmouk.

The Orange, led by Croatian coach Dragan Tadich, aim to achieve the desired start and make a strong impression in their league campaign by defeating the resilient Al-Tadamun side today.

Tadich has settled on his professional squad for the new season, relying on the Algerian Idriss Shaihi, Yemeni Nasser Muhammadwah, Senegalese Amath Ndao, Brazilian Patrick Robson, and German Tolreis Nol, alongside key local players such as Shuaib Al-Khaldi, Nasser Faleh, and Sultan Al-Anzi.

The team held their pre-season training camp in Turkey, where they recorded impressive results in friendly matches during the camp, leaving everyone anticipating a similar performance in today’s official competition. The Orange will also represent the country in the upcoming edition of the Gulf Champions League, in addition to domestic competitions.

Al-Sahel vs. Al-Salmiya: A matchup steeped in memories of their recent encounters in the First Division, the two teams meet today in the opening round of the Zain Premier League. The contest promises to be evenly matched between the two sides, both promoted from the First Division, which concluded recently after matches resumed following a pause due to current events. Both technical staffs—the Portuguese coach Miranda at Al-Salmiya and national coach Ali Abdul-Razzaq at Al-Sahel—are fully aware of their opponents’ capabilities and strengths.
