Kuwait and Japan: Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation and Intensifying Coordination

Foreign Minister Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah met with his Japanese counterpart, Toshiyuki Motegi, on Wednesday during the latter’s official visit to the Japanese capital, Tokyo. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the meeting reviewed the close historical ties between the two friendly countries and their growing development, following the upgrade of relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership last year. It was also emphasized that the current year marks a significant milestone in Kuwait-Japan relations, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The ministry added that both sides stressed their commitment to enhancing Kuwait-Japan cooperation across all fields and intensifying coordination and consultation at various levels to serve the shared interests of the two friendly nations. It noted that the meeting also discussed recent developments in regional and international affairs and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, foremost among them developments in the region and diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and enhancing security and stability.
