Mazloum Abdi announces the dissolution of the SDF and its integration into Syrian state institutions

Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced the dissolution of the autonomous administration in eastern Syria and the SDF, and their full integration into the institutions of the Syrian state. Abdi confirmed at a press conference in the Syrian capital, Damascus, that the mission of the SDF as an independent military force has ended, pointing to the completion of its integration into the Syrian Army. He said, “The circumstances have changed today, and the country has entered a new phase characterized by peace and the building of a new Syria. Following the agreement with President Ahmad al-Sharaa and the completion of the integration of our forces into the Syrian Army, we hereby announce the end of the SDF’s mission and declare, with full responsibility, its dissolution as an independent military force.” He added, “We want this day to mark the beginning of a genuine transition from battlefields to construction sites, and from the era of weapons to the era of peace.”
